Prof. Antoine Roquilly, coordinator of Homi-Lung from Nantes Université and Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Nantes, will take an active role in IMPACT-ICU: Infection management and prevention – advances and current trends for intensive care unit patients. This event is an ESCMID postgraduate course taking place in Thessaloniki, Greece, from 28 to 30 September 2026.
The hybrid course will bring together an international faculty of experts in intensive care, infectious diseases and clinical microbiology to discuss current challenges in infection prevention, diagnosis and treatment in critically ill patients. Its programme covers healthcare-associated infections, pneumonia, antimicrobial resistance, sepsis and other major issues in modern intensive care.
Prof. Roquilly is listed among the course faculty and will contribute in several roles. On 28 September, he will co-chair “Lessons from the Field: Part I” together with Prof. Antoni Torres, also an active member of the Homi-lung Consortium from Fundació de Recerca Clínic – IDIBAPS. The following morning, Prof. Roquilly will give the lecture “The lung microbiome in HAP: a new frontier in management”, as part of the session on respiratory tract infections in the ICU. He will later co-chair the interactive session “Old questions that always need an answer” with Prof. Aikaterini Amaniti.
The lecture to be delivered by Prof. Roquilly is closely connected to Homi-Lung. The project is investigating how immune and microbiome alterations associated with pneumonia may influence patients’ subsequent cardiovascular and respiratory health. Hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP) is also the focus of one of Homi-Lung’s clinical studies, which is following patients and collecting longitudinal samples to better understand these host-microbiome interactions.
Homi-Lung is also listed among the sponsors and supporters of the IMPACT-ICU course, reinforcing the project’s engagement with the European critical care and infectious diseases communities.
The course can be attended both onsite and online, offering an opportunity to follow Prof. Roquilly’s contribution and the wider discussions around some of the scientific and clinical questions at the heart of Homi-Lung. Registration is currently open until 14 September 2026.
