Members of the Homi-Lung team took part in the 2026 Congress of the French Society of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine (SFAR), held in Paris from 16 to 18 September. The annual SFAR Congress is a major meeting for the French-speaking anaesthesia and intensive care community, bringing together around 7,500 participants and more than 350 speakers to discuss advances in anaesthesia, critical care and perioperative medicine.
Prof. Antoine Roquilly, from Nantes Université and Nantes University Hospital (CHU de Nantes), and coordinator of Homi-Lung, contributed to two scientific sessions. He presented “Essais plateformes” (Platform trials) within a session on research innovation and methodology, and took part in a joint SPILF/SFAR session on multiplex PCR in critically ill patients with a presentation focusing on healthcare-associated pneumonia.
Cécile Poulain, a doctoral researcher at CHU de Nantes and member of the Homi-Lung team, presented an abstract arising from her PhD work within the project, entitled “Cardiovascular outcomes after severe pneumonia: a study of circulating immunity.” The abstract was presented during the session La pneumonie dans tous ses états, dedicated to current research on pneumonia. Her work directly addresses one of Homi-Lung’s central research questions: understanding how immune alterations following severe pneumonia may contribute to longer-term complications, including cardiovascular outcomes.
Together, these contributions illustrate the range of challenges surrounding severe pneumonia, from research methodology and diagnostic approaches to investigating the biological mechanisms that may shape patients’ long-term recovery.
